{"id":"CVE-2026-42312","published":"2026-05-11T16:32:00Z","modified":"2026-05-11T19:06:12Z","title":"pyload-ng: non-admin SETTINGS users can disable outbound TLS peer verification","vendor":"pyload","product":"pyload","tier":"tail","description":{"text":"pyLoad is a free and open-source download manager written in Python. Prior to 0.5.0b3.dev100, the set_config_value() API method (@permission(Perms.SETTINGS)) in src/pyload/core/api/__init__.py gates security-sensitive options behind a hand-maintained allowlist ADMIN_ONLY_CORE_OPTIONS. The option (\"general\", \"ssl_verify\") is not on that allowlist. Any authenticated user with the non-admin SETTINGS permission can set general.ssl_verify = off, and every subsequent outbound pycurl request is made with SSL_VERIFYPEER=0 and SSL_VERIFYHOST=0 — TLS peer and hostname verification are fully disabled. An on-path attacker can then present forged certificates for any hostname pyload fetches. This is a direct continuation of the fix family CVE-2026-33509 / CVE-2026-35463 / CVE-2026-35464 / CVE-2026-35586, each of which patched a different missed option in the same allowlist. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.5.0b3.dev100.","provenance":"source","from":"CVE.org"},"cvss":{"score":6.8,"severity":"MEDIUM","version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","provenance":"source","from":"CVE.org CNA"},"epss":{"score":0.00174,"percentile":0.06851,"provenance":"source"},"cwes":[{"id":"CWE-295","name":"Improper Certificate Validation"},{"id":"CWE-306","name":"Missing Authentication for Critical Functionality"},{"id":"CWE-863","name":"Incorrect Authorization"}],"references":[{"url":"https://github.com/pyload/pyload/security/advisories/GHSA-ccxc-x975-4hh9","tags":["x_refsource_CONFIRM"]}],"priority":{"score":6.1,"factors":[{"name":"EPSS percentile","points":1.37},{"name":"CVSS severity","points":4.76}]},"vendorSlug":"pyload","affectedVersions":[{"vendor":"pyload","product":"pyload","versions":["< 0.5.0b3.dev100"]}],"affected":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","package":"pyload-ng","vulnerableRanges":["<0.5.0b3.dev100"],"patched":["0.5.0b3.dev100"],"from":["GHSA-ccxc-x975-4hh9","PYSEC-2026-126"],"provenance":"source"}],"euvd":{"id":"EUVD-2026-29120","exploited":false,"provenance":"source"},"lineage":{"familyId":"fam-pyload-cve-2026-33509","parents":[{"from":"CVE-2026-33509","to":"CVE-2026-42312","relation":"related","confidence":"high","kind":"lineage","evidence":[{"kind":"osv-related","provenance":"source","id":"GHSA-ccxc-x975-4hh9","via":"reference","url":"https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-r7mc-x6x7-cqxx"}]},{"from":"CVE-2026-35463","to":"CVE-2026-42312","relation":"related","confidence":"high","kind":"lineage","evidence":[{"kind":"osv-related","provenance":"source","id":"GHSA-ccxc-x975-4hh9","via":"reference","url":"https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-w48f-wwwf-f5fr"}]},{"from":"CVE-2026-35464","to":"CVE-2026-42312","relation":"related","confidence":"high","kind":"lineage","evidence":[{"kind":"osv-related","provenance":"source","id":"GHSA-ccxc-x975-4hh9","via":"reference","url":"https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-4744-96p5-mp2j"}]},{"from":"CVE-2026-35586","to":"CVE-2026-42312","relation":"related","confidence":"high","kind":"lineage","evidence":[{"kind":"osv-related","provenance":"source","id":"GHSA-ccxc-x975-4hh9","via":"reference","url":"https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-ppvx-rwh9-7rj7"}]}]}}
