Code Aurora ACDB Audio Driver Stack-based Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Code Aurora · ACDB Audio Driver

Summary

The flaw is a stack-based buffer overflow in the acdb_ioctl function in audio_acdb.c, within the Code Aurora ACDB Audio Driver for the Linux kernel 2.6.x and 3.x as used in Qualcomm Innovation Center Android contributions for MSM devices and other products. An attacker with local access who can run an application that opens /dev/msm_acdb and supplies a large size value in an ioctl argument can gain privileges, with no authentication or user interaction required.
