Microsoft Windows Kernel Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

Microsoft · Windows

Summary

The kernel-mode drivers in Microsoft Windows, specifically the Win32k component, contain a privilege escalation flaw affecting Windows Vista SP2 through Windows 10 (including Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows RT 8.1). An attacker with local, low-privileged access to the system can exploit it by running a crafted application, requiring no user interaction, to gain elevated privileges.
