Red Hat JBoss Application Server Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

Red Hat · JBoss Application Server

Summary

Red Hat JBoss Application Server, as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Application Platform 5.2, has a flaw in the ReadOnlyAccessFilter's doFilter method in the HTTP Invoker, which performs deserialization without restricting which classes may be deserialized. An attacker with network access can send crafted serialized data to the affected HTTP Invoker endpoint, requiring no authentication, no user interaction and no non-default configuration, to execute arbitrary code.

Official description · NVD

In Jboss Application Server as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Application Platform 5.2, it was found that the doFilter method in the ReadOnlyAccessFilter of the HTTP Invoker does not restrict classes for which it performs deserialization and thus allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary code via crafted serialized data.
