NETGEAR DGN2200 Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

NETGEAR · Wireless Router DGN2200

Summary

The NETGEAR DGN2200 Wireless Router DGN2200 contains an OS command injection flaw in its ping.cgi component, where shell metacharacters in the ping_IPAddr field of an HTTP POST request are not neutralized. An attacker with valid authentication on the device can exploit this remotely over the network to execute arbitrary operating system commands, with no user interaction required.

Official description · NVD

ping.cgi on NETGEAR DGN2200 devices with firmware through 10.0.0.50 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary OS commands via shell metacharacters in the ping_IPAddr field of an HTTP POST request.
