Sunhillo SureLine OS Command Injection Vulnerablity

Sunhillo · SureLine

Summary

The Sunhillo SureLine product, before version 8.7.0.1.1, contains an OS command injection flaw in its networkDiag.cgi component, where shell metacharacters supplied through the ipAddr or dnsAddr parameters are not properly neutralised. An attacker with network access can exploit this without authentication or user interaction, simply by sending crafted requests to the networkDiag.cgi endpoint.

Official description · NVD

Sunhillo SureLine before 8.7.0.1.1 allows Unauthenticated OS Command Injection via shell metacharacters in ipAddr or dnsAddr /cgi/networkDiag.cgi.

Initial AccessTA0001

MITRE CTID mapping of the KEV entry · how it is exploited

To trigger this vulnerability, an attacker sends a specially crafted POST request to the webserver at the URL /cgi/networkDiag.cgi . Within this request, the attacker inserts a Linux command as part of the ipAddr or dnsAddr POST parameters. When the webserver processes the POST request, the command the attacker has inserted into the parameter will be executed.
