Linux Kernel Improper Authentication Vulnerability
Linux · Kernel
The Linux kernel's cgroup_release_agent_write function in kernel/cgroup/cgroup-v1.c contains an improper authentication flaw affecting the cgroups v1 release_agent feature. An attacker with local access and low privileges, requiring no user interaction, can exploit the flaw under certain circumstances to escalate privileges and break out of namespace isolation.
A vulnerability was found in the Linux kernel’s cgroup_release_agent_write in the kernel/cgroup/cgroup-v1.c function. This flaw, under certain circumstances, allows the use of the cgroups v1 release_agent feature to escalate privileges and bypass the namespace isolation unexpectedly.
