Apple iOS, iPadOS, and macOS Webkit Use-After-Free Vulnerability

Apple · iOS, iPadOS, and macOS

Summary

A use-after-free flaw in WebKit, the browser engine shared across Apple's iOS, iPadOS, and macOS products, stems from a memory-management defect that was fixed in the affected releases. An attacker can achieve arbitrary code execution by getting a user to load maliciously crafted web content, which requires no prior authentication and no network position beyond delivering that content, but does require the user to interact with it.

Official description · NVD

A use after free issue was addressed with improved memory management. This issue is fixed in macOS Monterey 12.2.1, iOS 15.3.1 and iPadOS 15.3.1, Safari 15.3 (v. 16612.4.9.1.8 and 15612.4.9.1.8). Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited..
