Linux Kernel Use-After-Free Vulnerability

Linux · Kernel

Summary

The Linux kernel's netfilter (nftables) subsystem contains a use-after-free flaw in which an nft object or expression can reference an nft set belonging to a different nft table, and the reference becomes dangling once that table is deleted. A local attacker with low privileges and no user interaction can trigger the freed memory to be accessed, which the attack vector indicates can compromise confidentiality, integrity and availability.

Official description · NVD

It was discovered that a nft object or expression could reference a nft set on a different nft table, leading to a use-after-free once that table was deleted.
