Zyxel Multiple Firewalls OS Command Injection Vulnerability

Zyxel · Multiple Firewalls

Summary

The vulnerability is an OS command injection flaw in the firmware of multiple Zyxel firewall families, specifically the ZyWALL/USG, VPN, USG FLEX, and ATP series, caused by improper handling of error messages. An unauthenticated remote attacker who can reach an affected device over the network can exploit it without user interaction by sending crafted packets to execute some operating system commands on the device.

Official description · NVD

Improper error message handling in Zyxel ZyWALL/USG series firmware versions 4.60 through 4.73, VPN series firmware versions 4.60 through 5.35, USG FLEX series firmware versions 4.60 through 5.35, and ATP series firmware versions 4.60 through 5.35, which could allow an unauthenticated attacker to execute some OS commands remotely by sending crafted packets to an affected device.
