Apple Multiple Products Out-of-Bounds Write Vulnerability
Apple · Multiple Products
An out-of-bounds write flaw in multiple Apple products, including iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, stems from insufficient bounds checking. An attacker who can get a user to open a maliciously crafted file can achieve arbitrary code execution, which requires user interaction and no prior authentication, with network access as the delivery path.
An out-of-bounds write issue was addressed with improved bounds checking. This issue is fixed in iOS 18.7.11 and iPadOS 18.7.11, iOS 26.7.1 and iPadOS 26.7.1, macOS Sequoia 15.8.1, macOS Tahoe 26.7.1. Processing a maliciously crafted file may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on versions of iOS before iOS 27.

Exploitation timelineDated milestones for a CVE: when it was disclosed, when exploit code became public, when exploitation was confirmed, and when threat reports named it.
First seen exploited the day it was disclosed. Public exploit code (PoC-in-GitHub) appeared 1 day after disclosure.
CISA KEV listing is when exploitation was confirmed, not necessarily the first attack.
