WordPress Core Remote File Inclusion Vulnerability

WordPress · Core

Summary

A flaw in WordPress Core's get_page_template() page-template resolution lets an attacker cause the software to include a chosen readable local .php file located outside the active theme directories. An unauthenticated remote attacker can trigger this without user interaction, and it can lead to remote code execution only if specific pre-conditions on both the server and the active theme are met.

Official description · NVD

An unauthenticated attacker can make `get_page_template()` page-template resolution include a chosen readable local `.php` file outside the active theme directories. If relevant pre-conditions for both the server and the active theme are met, this can lead to RCE.
